It was his own struggle with seeing the school whiteboard that introduced Jason into the world of optometry, so it was only natural that he developed a special interest in children’s vision.

Jason graduated from the University of Auckland in 2019, achieving an honours degree. In 2021, he completed the Australian College of Optometry’s Advanced Certificate in Children’s Vision, providing him further training in paediatric eye conditions.

Jason enjoys the full-scope nature of practicing optometry in the regions. He is skilled in corneal foreign body and rust removal using specialised equipment and frequently receives referrals from GPs and optometry colleagues. Being a therapeutically endorsed optometrist means he is able to prescribe medications for the treatment of a variety of eye diseases.

Outside of work, Jason enjoys exploring the many walking tracks around the Bay of Islands. He has recently developed an interest in DIY and often spends his weekends getting through his list of projects.
